Music used in Class:

Artists and albums we like and links for purchase, etc.

Sameera: Modern Music for Bellydance   by Zachary Mechlem

Belly Dance Rakset Algazala       by Nourha Sharif

West of East     by Pangia

Arabesque     Various Artists

Highly Recommended DVD: "American Bellydancer" a fun documentary about the beginnings of the Bellydance Superstars - has great cultural info on bellydance in America and should be of interest to any bellydance student.

Some ideas for instructional materials:

The High Desert Bellydance Guild has a library with lots of instructional materials and music. Available to members only, see their website for how to join and to see library holdings. www.highdesertbellydance.org

Neena and Veena - their videos and DVDs are widely available and good for beginners. The public library has them, also the High Desert Bellydance Guild library.

International Academy of Middle Eastern Dance (IAMED) produces  lots of good instructional DVDs.

Mesmera's Garden - a beautifully filmed production with tons of material. Faster paced, but useful for a beginner.

If you are a Netflix user, check out their bellydance dvds - some are better than others, check out the reviews for what others thought of them.  They have quite a few beginning level dvds. They also have "American Bellydancer", highly recommended!

More to come. Take time to explore: Itunes, Rhapsody, CDbaby, LastFM or whatever is your fancy.

If it moves you, dance to it!
